A Dam Dam Run up the Colorado

Dam Dam Run on Colorado

Time for a trip “By Water”! This last July 4th weekend, we spent the weekend with Rick and his wife in Bullhead City, AZ. With two days on Lake Mojave, we decided to do an approximately 120 mile journey up to the base of Hover Dam and back one of the days. This is affectionately know as the Dam Dam run. We didn’t start at Davis Dam, as we launched about 5 miles up at Princess Cove. The trip took most of the day, but was well worth it. The many amazing views from open lake, to narrow tall canyons of the Colorado River are breathtaking. I shot this with my new 70D, and I am still playing with the settings to figure it all out, so some photos are marginal.

Bonus photos in the group! Took some fireworks shot from a hill overlooking the Casinos. However I forgot to bring my tripod along, so all shots are with a 55-250 Kit lens hand held… a bit shaky. Also a little 1.5″ Gecko my youngest daughter found… Thought the shot was cool, so I included it.
